Today, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah successfully completed his record 13th budget in his political career of more than three decades. The budget was hashtaged #navaKarnatakaBudget2018 and the minister made some interesting announcements for
the state.
Below are the 10 highlights of Karnataka State Budget - 2018.
1. Students across Karnataka will now be provided with free bus passes during year 2018-2019.
2. Girls studying PUC, Degree and post graduation in government colleges to get FREE education.
3. Bengaluru has been allocated a whopping 2500 crore package for various programs. Detailed Project Report for Namma Metro Phase 3 will be launched soon. The phase 3 will include total length of 266 km and completing which the metro track will become ring rail network in the city.
4. Incentive of 3 Lakh for a Scheduled Caste guy marrying girl from another caste and 5 Lakh for a Scheduled Caste girl marrying guy from another caste!
5. "Raitha Belaku" scheme to benefit 70 Lakh dry land farmers with rupees 5000 per hectare to 10000.
6. "Kshema Nidhi" scheme to benefit all the news paper distributors who delivers paper door to door. The scheme will cost rupees 2 crore to the government.
7. Monthly pension given to former state, national and international level sportspersons has been increased from 750, 1000, 1500 to 1000, 1500 and 2000 respectively.
8. Excise duty on liquor increased by 8%
9. Mukhyamantri Anila Bhagya to benefit 30 lakh ppl in a concrete step towards Smoke free Karnataka.
10. Progressive steps towards Digital Karnataka.
